The Montecchiesi wine estate has belonged to the family since 1980, when brothers Giuseppe
and Dario, sons of the founder, Augusto, attracted by Tuscany’s great winemaking traditions
and great red wines, decided to produce such ambitious wines as well. This constituted a serious challenge, since purchasing this property meant that they had to give up something that was most dear to them: sell part of the land in Veneto regionthat they had inherited from their father Augusto.
Convinced of the significant winegrowing potential of Cortona, they decided to plant there
other grape varieties, in addition to the already-planted Sangiovese, in this way specialising in a grape variety that developments proved to be particularly well-suited to that terroir, Syrah.
In 2017, following years of research, a rosé programme was started and the
Montecchiesi in rose line was created.
Thanks to the Dal Ceros’ felicitous intuitions and expertise, the estate has grown to five times its original extent, all totally planted to vineyard.

NAME: VERSY’ IN ROSE
VINTAGE: 2017
DENOMINATION: TOSCANA IGT ROSé
GRAPES: SYRAH with a little touch of Vermentino
ALTITUDE: 280 mt on sea level
SOIL: Clay and stony ground
TRAINING SYSTEM: Bush-style alberello at 8,000 vines per hectare grown
biodynamically. Buds are quality-selected and clusterthinning is practiced.
NUMBER OF BOTTLES: 10.000
VINIFICATION: The clusters are pressed very gently, to obtain the highquality free-run must, about 30% of the first pressing. Fermentation is in large 600-litre casks.
MATURATION: Eight months in large oak casks.
SENSORY PROFILE: The wine appears pale pink, with luminous highlights. The
remarkably intense bouquet boasts elegant fragrances of peach, melon, and other fruit, all lifted with an earthy vein of mineral. The palate displays impressive breadth, multilayered complexity, and a firm structure.
