Young and Organic-Sustainable GREEN winery (first vinification 2010) offers wines with an extreme terroir content and a strong experiential component. Located on the hill of Pomaio, just 3 km from the splendid Etruscan town of Arezzo offers an excellent southern exposure and a unique landscape. A property of 23 hectares, great care of the vineyards and constant selection of grapes enables the achievement of the objectives related to the quality level that the Podere di Pomaio Green Winery has always pledged to continue in its various fields of business (hospitality, honey, EVOoil, wine).
The vision of the company is strongly related to the Ovidian concept that: Gratius ex ipso fonte bibuntur aquae, or “The water you drink more willingly it draws directly from the source,” a vision at Zero Km linked to an artisanal handycrafted production of 15,000 bottles. Precisely for this reason Podere di Pomaio tries to bring the many organic wine lovers of the traditional local Tuscan and Chianti wines to taste this product with a thousand virtues directly from the farm, where you can experience the local culture and passion that makes the wine more valuable. Each bottle is different but in all the wines of Pomaio it is easy to find its wonderful landscape and soil with its evident mineral note.
The vineyard was founded by young brothers Iacopo & Marco Rossi, a Vigneron and a Sommelier…they’ve been proudly fighting since 1981(when Marco was born)! The project Think Green is the expression of their commitment to produce respecting humans, the wine and the hill re-ducing, re-cycling, re-using and above all Rethinking reality in a smart way. The company won the prize Terre Fiorenti 2014 as the most innovative farm company of Tuscany. The Eco-Wine Cellar was selected among Tuscany’s 14 most beautiful wine-cellars
The Green line of Podere di Pomaio, can be seen starting from the methods of cultivation and production that are organic and highly focused on attention to respect the unique environment, even the premises for the production and wine tasting are built in a natural way. In fact, the winery hosted by the beautiful hill and composed of boulders and the business center are constructed according to the principles of green-architecture with the use of solutions typically used by the Romans and the Etruscans. Huge boulders, mortar, natural materials, pozzolanic, NO chemical colors, tiled floors and lava basalt allow the company to live in complete harmony with the hill and
the five wines. Wine is in fact an entity and only by protecting their sensitive and creation processes one is able to obtain a clean product of excellence. The manufacturing process is then completed by the use of renewable energy giving rise to a virtuous cycle in which the winery does not need to be air conditioned and the bottling line inside, can further reduce the already low
emissions of CO2. Of the 23 hectares estate only 3 are designated to be a vineyard, more than 40% of the company is wooded to offset emissions related to the production bringing naturally oxygen to the production process.
